Seed2.0 Model Card: Towards Intelligence Frontier for Real-World Complexity

We present Seed2.0, a model series that takes a meaningful step toward solving complex, real-world tasks. Our approach begins with identifying users' genuine needs and constructing a reliable, forward-looking evaluation system by selecting and abstracting benchmarks grounded in these needs and in realistic, complex scenarios. Guided by this evaluation system, Seed2.0 targets two persistent challenges, long-tail knowledge and complex instruction following, substantially improving the model's reliability on intricate, long-horizon tasks. Beyond these, Seed2.0 delivers world-leading reasoning intelligence, visual understanding, and search capabilities that address the most common needs of a broad user base. Through extensive real-world use cases documented in this model card, we demonstrate that Seed2.0 begins to exhibit the ability to handle initial complex real-world tasks, delivering greater value to hundreds of millions of users.

As AI technology becomes more widespread, there is growing demand for models that can handle complex, real-world tasks—such as planning a multi-city trip, analyzing hidden clauses in legal contracts, or extracting key decision-making information from vast datasets. The core needs here are reliability and flexibility: models must not only understand surface-level information from text or images but also maintain logical consistency in long-horizon tasks and provide reasonable answers to rare or "edge-case" problems. However, existing approaches still have significant limitations in these areas.

Previous technologies often focused on single tasks (e.g., simple QA or image classification) or relied on idealized benchmarks (e.g., standardized datasets in controlled lab environments). This led to two key issues: first, models tend to fail in "long-tail knowledge" scenarios (i.e., rare or specialized domains); second, they struggle with complex instructions (e.g., multi-step reasoning or combining visual and textual information). These shortcomings make AI "clever but not practical" in real applications, failing to meet users' expectations for handling complexity.

Seed2.0’s breakthrough lies in realigning technical design with user needs. The research team first identified high-frequency real-world demands (e.g., multimodal understanding, long-term planning) through surveys and built an evaluation system closer to reality. This system includes not only traditional benchmarks but also a wide range of complex, open-ended tasks. Based on this, Seed2.0 addresses the two pain points by optimizing data distribution and training strategies to improve generalization to rare scenarios, while its architecture supports coordinated processing of multimodal information for better execution of complex instructions.

Compared to prior work, Seed2.0’s key difference is shifting from "task completion" to "value delivery". Rather than pursuing extreme performance in isolated metrics, it validates practical utility through real-world cases. For example, in medical diagnosis assistance, Seed2.0 not only identifies symptoms but also provides personalized recommendations using patient history— a capability rooted in its deep modeling of real-world complexity.
